The Green Bay Chapter of Trout Unlimited is very active within the community of Green Bay and surrounding areas. The chapter offers scholarships to area jr./senior high students to attend area conservation and environmental camps.
We organize and sponsor, the Take-A-Kid Fishing Day in July at the Izaak Walton Ponds, providing equipment, dinner, and tutoring. The Brown County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League provides the quarry of Bluegills and Bass. And the PALS program of Brown County provides the eager participants. It allows the urban kids of Brown County, a chance to experience the excitement that fishing brings to many of us. As a chapter, we built the covered bridge at the NEW Zoo, along with the 1/4 mile Educational Walk-Through Trail that highlights some of the methods we use to create fishery habitat.
In past years, we have organized and sponsored, fly-casting seminars in the hope of having more people involved in the fine art of fly-fishing. Providing another method to fish for trout that is fun and rewarding. Thus, creating an avenue to learn about the importance of coldwater conservation and the positive impacts it has on trout fishing.
